Sometimes it is financially advantageous to book separate tickets on Great Lakes Airlines and a Denver connecting airline. Don't be intiminated by this process .... it's much easier than you think!

First, click on the main menu "Great Lakes North Platte/Denver Flight Schedule" button and print the Great Lakes flight schedule. Use this schedule to help match-up your best Denver connection times. Be sure to select flights that give you enough connecting time in Denver (1.5 hours is recommended). Then, to book your flight, go to Great Lakes Airlines reservation web-page and type in when and where you want to fly.  Select flights that suit your budget, travel dates and departure times and simply follow the rest of the on-line booking instructions. Follow the same procedure using an airline, or an on-line travel agency web site to book your Denver connecting flight.

Because you booked separate tickets, your Denver connecting airline information will not be in Great Lakes' computers when you check-in at North Platte. with that in mind, be sure to have each airline's flight intinerary confirmation papers (that were emailed or faxed to you after booking) with you at check-in, as the Great Lakes' ticket agents will use information from those documents to check your bags (if applicable) and provide you with Denver concourse information.

Denver Baggage Transfer

Great Lakes Airlines has inter-line baggage transfer agreements with most of the Denver connecting airlines. That means, even though you booked a separate ticket, your bags will be transferred to your Denver connecting airline and delivered all the way to your destination.

Currently, the domestic airlines that do not have inter-line Denver baggage transfer agreements with Great Lakes are: Southwest, Jet Blue, Air Trans, Delta and Northwest. If you intend to travel with checked bags from North Platte and connect with one of the non-inter-line airlines, you will have to claim your bags in Denver and go thru the entire check-in and screening process again.

To avoid this hassel, you can chose to take a carry-on bag with you instead. The new liquid, gel, and aerosol restrictions can make taking a carry-on bag with you somewhat of a challenge, but with the right kind of planning it can easily be done. For information about what you can pack in your carry-on bag go to TSA's
3-1-1 web page.

NOTE: Some international airlines do not have Denver baggage transfer inter-line agreements with Great Lakes. Be sure to confirm the baggage transfer capability of the airline you are planning to connect with in Denver prior to booking your flight. You can get this information at Great Lakes' local number: (308) 532-1558.
